Commonly known as : Never Never plant / Grey Star Prayer Plant
Botanical Name: Ctenanthe Setosa
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate leaves.
💦 Water:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry, and avoid letting it dry out completely. Prefers distilled or rainwater to prevent leaf browning from tap water chemicals.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity:
Thrives in warm temperatures between 18-27°C. It enjoys high humidity, so mist regularly, place near a humidifier, or use a pebble tray for added moisture.
🌱 Soil & Repotting:
For optimal drainage and healthy roots, you can use our premixed Aroid Mix, or you can create your own potting mix using Barks Unlimited Potting Soil combined with Perlite. Repot every 1-2 years with fresh soil and add Bark Chips to improve aeration.
🌿 Fertilizing:
Feed every 4-6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. For long-term nourishment, use a Controlled Release Fertilizer that provides nutrients for six months. Additionally, boost plant health with an organic feed like Terraplus Natura N.
Pruning & Maintenance:
Remove yellow or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth. Clean leaves occasionally to remove dust and enhance their ability to absorb light.
🐛 Pests & Problems:
Susceptible to spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. Keep an eye out for pests and treat infestations with an insecticidal spray. Browning leaf edges often indicate low humidity or fluoride in tap water.
🪴 Pet-Friendliness:
Mildly toxic if ingested, so keep it out of reach of pets and small children.
