Greyton was established in 1854 by Herbert Vigne as an agricultural village on the farm Weltevreden, which he named after Sir George Grey, the Cape Governor at the time. The village layout was designed by J G Rietz and remains much the same today, characterized by its thatched cottages, oak-lined streets, and leiwater canals. Both a historical overview as well as a list of highlights to do.
