DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTIONA beautiful woodcut in vibrant colours, typical of Isaac Sithole's work. The actual print measures 30cm x 14cm and the framed work 47cm x 31cm. Isaac Sithole worked in small editions and this is number 5/10.
CONDITIONBoth the artwork and frame are in very good condition and it can be hung and displayed as is.
NOTES
Isaac Sithole was born in Mocambique in 1974. He started woodcarving at the age of 12. He moved to South Africa where he worked as a professional, full-time woodcarver at the BAT center in Durban. He worked with a colour reduction technique. This involved cutting away at the woodblock each time the colour was printed. He made small editions and was inspired by daily and cultural events in the lives of village people. He was one of KZN's most prolific artists until his death in 2012 at the age of 38. His works are represented in numerous private and corporate collections.
