Frame is 36 cm by 32 cm.

Etching is 21 cm by 17 cm

A fine etching that shows a lot of detailed work. Hilda May Pemberton is a collectible artist whose South African etchings have been compared favourably with those of Thinus de Jongh. In fact, I have met collectors who think that her work is better! At some point the etching was incorrectly ascribed to an Andre Naude. As far as I know there is no such artist.

Groote Schuur is the President of South Africa's Cape Town residence and is situated in Rondebosch. It was built by the renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker for Cecil Rhodes and incorporates elements of the Cape Dutch style, particularly the gables. Details of the plaque above the front entrance, commemorating Jan van Riebeeck's landing at the Cape, can be seen, along with a chair on the stoep.

This house was lived in by most of our Prime Ministers and Presidents, including Jan and Isie Smuts.  Jacob Zuma lived here for a while when he was Deputy President. Sadly it is now vacant and nobody lives there apart from the cat, apparently.

Secure packaging and tracked postage only R80. Or you can pick up in Cape Town.
