An absolutely stunning Art Deco demitasse duo by Jackson and Gosling (which used the trade name “Grosvenor China”), one of the most famous of porcelain firms which operated from Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, until they were taken over by Copeland in the 1930s. Both pieces are richly gilded on all their extremities and feature a band of mottled green towards the ends with a decorative geometric pattern underneath. The back stamp dates this duo to the 1930s, the height of the Art Deco movement. The pattern name is "Allandale".
Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The gilding is intact albeit somewhat tarnished in places. There is some minor wear and tear from usage, but overall all the pieces are in excellent condition considering their age. The cup measures about 7 cm across (excluding the handle) and is 5.5 cm high. The saucer is about 11.5 cm across and 1 cm high.
