GROUP AREAS ACT, 1957 - RARE POLITICAL HISTORY DOCUMENTS!

WET 77 VAN 1957, WET OP GROEPSGEBIEDE. (GROUP AREAS ACT).  This group of documents refer mainly to the small town of Hanover (Northern Cape). During the early 1960's the proclamation of so called "Group Areas" in Hanover cast a dark cloud over the then fairly unsegregated town. The lot includes two hand drawn diagrams of possible segregation lines and indicates the race of those who lived there at the time. Government correspondence and a permit included. 

A second permit that was issued to an applicant in Richmond is also included. 

The lot consists of six documents.
