A Group of Thee Full-Sized Medals with Miniatures to Clive Andrew Murray:
Medals mounted for wear on a bar with original ribbons. The Zimbabwe Independence Medal is missing the ring that links it to the ribbon. The miniatures are mounted for wear on a bar. There is also an assortment of spare ribbons and a full-sized ribbon bar.
Clive Murray was born in London, England in 1942. At some stage he immigrated to Southern Rhodesia. He served with the Rhodesian Light Infantry for 7 years during the 1960s, leaving with the rank of sergeant. Murray then joined the Police Reserves as an instructor based in Bindura. He returned to Britain in 1970 and joined the newly-formed Ulster Defence Regiment. He was sent for officer training to Sandhurst. There he excelled and was awarded the Sword of Honour after being nominated as the “best officer cadet”. He served in Northern Ireland as a 2nd Lieutenant during the “troubles” until 1976 when he went back to Rhodesia. He volunteered for the BSAP Support Unit and served Lance Inspector until 1978. He married former WPO 339 Vanessa Gent (note: I am also listing her GSM) and together they went to Namibia in 1980. There he was employed in security at the Rossing Uranium Mine. During the 1990’s Murray moved to Uganda where he set up his own Security Company. He retired to live in Swaziland and died there in Mbabane on 20th October 2020.
The photographs of Murray (one recognisable in the uniform of the RLI) in the listing are included for interest and do not form part of this sale.
Note: I am listing a number of other medals that were in the possession Clive Murray and came to me from his family.
