Shalimar by Guerlain was created as a tribute to the great love story of Emperor Shahjahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, meaning 'jewel of the palace'. After her death, the emperor was so devastated he built the Taj Mahal in memory of their her and their undying love. The perfume is named after Mumtaz's favourite gardens, the Gardens of Shalimar. The perfume captures the magic and luxury of this fairytale. The top notes are citrus, bergamot, cedar, lemon, and mandarin orange. The middle notes are rose, vetiver, patchouli, iris and jasmine.
