Charles Murray (1864 - 1941) was a skilled and popular poet who wrote in the pure Scots of his native Aberdeenshire, despite spending his working lifetime as a civil engineer and senior civil servant in South Africa. Three volumes of poetry were published between 1900 and 1920 - Hamewith remaining in print since its first publication. His poems on the war, written with a clear eye and without sentimentality, give a picture of the effects of the conflict upon ordinary country people. With two illustrations by R Douglas Strachan and a glossary of Scottish terms.
This is the 6th impression published 1911 by Constable & Company, London. Signed by the author. Condition: Fair. Foxing on pages and edges of book block. Rough cut. Cover and binding sturdy. Wear and tear at back and edges of cover. Gilded picture of a Scotsman playing a bagpipe on front. Gilded title and author's name on spine.
