Hand Carved Wooden African Sculpture From Zambia

Large magnificent hand carved African mural.

This mural was hand carved and bought in Zambia during the 1970's and has been a family heirloom for all these years. The owner has retired and the new cottage is too small for this item.

It was carved from solid wood (unfortunately the type of wood is not known), but it is a hard wood. It depicts hunters in a tree with some African animals. At the bottom a woman wields a knife, probably to skin the animals. A piece of work like this takes strong hands and total concentration to complete, a task lasting weeks.

Height: 1.95m
Width at the middle: 65cm
Width at the bottom: 95cm
Thickness: 2-3cm

It is heavy and cannot be shipped. Item is located in Pinetown, so ideally a buyer must be from this area.
