The vintage 18ct rose gold ring is hand-made in South Africa, with a distinctive mid-20^th Century flair. The ring has a round-cut, pink tourmaline (approximately 8.5mm diameter circa 2.4ct; soft strawberry pink colour; moderate inclusions; shows minor signs of wear appropriate to age) tube-set in the centre. The tube has a wire twist surround at its base, and stands on top of a convex-bowed element with outward spoked grooves. The bowed element is surrounded by a thicker wire twist. The ring is marked 18ct; the South African springbok head in a U symbol used 1948-1973; the date letter for 1954; and a makers mark that has not been identified.
