HAND PAINTED 1960S AYNSLEY ENGLAND PEMBROKE EXOTIC BIRD PATTERN RING DISH

THIS IS AN UNUSUAL SHAPED RING OR TRINKET DISH BY AYNSLEY ENGLAND WITH AN OVAL BODY AND A RIM TRIMMED WITH GOLD. BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED WITH FLOWERS AND A COLOURFUL HUMMING BIRS IN A PATTERN CALLED 'PEMBROKE'.

THE PATTERN IS BASED ON AN ORIGINAL 18TH CENTURY ASIAN-INSPIRED JOHN AYNSLEY DESIGN WITH COLORFUL FLOWER AND HUMMING BIRD MOTIF.

FULLY STAMPED ON THE BASE WITH SILVER FOIL STICKER ON NECK - MADE BY AYNSLEY, ENGLAND, DATES FROM AROUND THE 1960S.

Before the 1930s, Aynsley China was entirely hand-painted.  Starting in the 1930s, it was hand-finished over a transfer printed design like on our plate.  In general, this is less desirable but still very much sought-after. In the 1970s, even the hand-finishing was abandoned. In general, this is the least desirable.

PEMBROKE PATTERN:
The Aynsley Pembroke pattern is a delicate design of blue birds and pink camellias that reflects the 18th-century fascination with exotic plants and birds. The Pembroke pattern is a 1930s design based on an earlier 18th century Asian-inspired design created by John Aynsley, the founder of the John Aynsley & Sons China company.
Pembroke pattern items have been manufactured in many different time periods, including the 1930s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s.

SIZE: 13.5CM x 12CM OVAL 2.3CM HIGH

CONDITION: GOOD CONDITION. NO CRACKS OR CHIPS.

MARK: CROWN MARK WITH AYENSLEY MADE IN ENGLAND FINE ENGLISH BONE CHINA UNDERNEATH
The crown symbol on the logo represents the honor of the British royal family for more than 200 years. The 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne, all royal celebrations and memorial porcelains include Aynsley's works. In 2011, Prince William of England, the porcelain at the wedding was also designed by Aynsley.

ROYAL AYNSLEY (1775-1970):
Aynsley is a 250 year old British porcelain company, and was founded in 1775 in Staffordshire England by John Aynsley.
Not much is known about John Aynsleys early life, but it is likely his parents were semi-elite landowners who helped him set up his Longton factory at the age of 23. Initially, Aynsley was known as an enameller, indicating he was at first a china decorator rather than a manufacturer. The company eventually moved into china production, although accounts vary with regards to the date. Some suggest manufacturing began as early as 1776, while others suggest 1788 as a more likely date. All agree, however, that by 1810 Aynsley and Company were producing their own china on Flint Street in Longton. Specializing in lusterware, by the time of his death in 1829 John Aynsley was credited with popularizing this type of porcelain through the whole of the district.
In 1861 his grandson John built the historic Portland Works on Sutherland Road. The company was profitable which made it a desirable acquisition. In 1970 John Aynsley and Sons was taken over by Waterford and renamed Aynsley China Ltd. In May 1997, Aynsley China was acquired by The Belleek Pottery Group in Ireland. The company closed its Stoke on Trent factory in September 2014. As of July 2015 the factory shop is still open but its future is uncertain as the site is being advertised as for sale.
As one of the most important porcelain brands in the world today, collectors all over the world aim to own a piece of Aynsleys classical porcelain.
