Hand-Painted Lacquer Trinket Box Mouse Design
A small hand-painted lacquer trinket box featuring a charming mouse eating a berry amongst grasses and wheat. Decorated in warm earthy tones with delicate brushwork, likely made in India in the traditional papier-mâché style. The interior is black and the exterior is painted in enamel colours.
The box shows age-related paint wear around the edges and rim, and small losses to the lacquer consistent with older handmade lacquerware. Still opens and closes well and displays beautifully.
