Hand-Painted Portuguese Terracotta Chorizo Grill (Assador de Chouriço)

This is an authentic, hand-painted Assador de Chouriço (Chorizo Grill) crafted in Portugal. Made from traditional terracotta with a glazed finish, it features a classic floral motif on the sides and a functional grate design. It is used for the traditional Portuguese method of flame-grilling sausages (Chouriço Assado) right at the dinner table.

How to Use

1. Prep the Sausage: Score a Portuguese chouriço (or similar cured sausage) at roughly 1cm intervals, being careful not to cut all the way through.
2. Add Fuel: Pour a high-proof alcohol (traditionally Aguardente, but vodka or brandy work well) into the bottom of the ceramic dish.
3. Ignite: Place the sausage on the grate. Use a long match or grill lighter to carefully ignite the alcohol in the base.
4. Grill: Let the flames cook the sausage for a few minutes, turning occasionally with tongs until the casing is charred and crispy.
5. Serve: Once the flames subside, slice the sausage and serve immediately with crusty bread.
