Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature, this is a happy tale about Mumble (Elijah Wood).
Every emperor penguin in the colony must sing what is called a "Heartsong" in order to attract a soul mate. Alas, Mumble cannot do this as he has a terrible singing voice! However, what he can do is tap-dance! But this is frowned on by the colony's traditional-minded elders, who blame the lack of fish in the sea in their area on Mumble's frivolity — just the way certain church elders blamed rock'n'roll for all the evils imaginable in the 1950s!
But Mumble correctly attributes the fish situation to "the aliens" (= humans), and he ventures far to prove his point — accompanied for some of the journey by girlfriend Gloria (Brittany Murphy), and a group of loony Mexican penguins. Once past the elephant seal colony, however, he is on his own.
