**Character Background:**

Victor von Doom was born to a tribe of Latverian Romani people, under the rule of a Baron. His mother, Cynthia von Doom, was a witch who died at Mephisto's hand, and his father, Werner von Doom, was a renowned medicine man. After his mother's death, Werner was accused of murder when the Baron's wife succumbed to cancer. Fleeing with young Victor, Werner died of exposure, leaving Victor determined to avenge his parents. Combining sorcery and technology, Victor created fantastic devices to protect his people, catching the attention of the Empire State University dean.

In the U.S., Victor met Reed Richards and constructed a machine to communicate with the dead. Ignoring Reed's warning about a flaw, the machine exploded, damaging Victor's face. After being expelled, Victor traveled, eventually forging a suit of armor and becoming Doctor Doom. As Doctor Doom, he seeks revenge on those he holds responsible for his accident, particularly Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.
