You have to take the price of the Hatsan Mod 70 into account when you are writing a review. This air gun is very affordable when you think about what it is. Let¿¿¿s face it the average Joe cannot afford to spend thousands of Rand on an air rifle. So the Mod 70 offers a no frills value for money option. You cannot compare it to airguns like Weihrauch because they¿¿¿re simply better and four five times more in price. A better comparison would be to the Gamo Shadow 1000. Both are break barrel air rifles. Both have a basic all weather synthetic stock and shoot at a velocity of up to 1000 feet per second. It does depend on the pellets being used. We found that 7.5 grain pellets achieved a velocity of around 880 fps. Lighter high velocity pellets can average over 1000 feet per second. The MOD 70 has been greatly improved in the last couple of years. The general consensus is that the Turkish manufacturer is modifying the products they make all the time. The Hatsan MOD 70 is highly recommended for the recreational shooter or someone looking to buy their first airgun. A great choice all round then.
