The heart chakra is located at the sternum or breastbone. It is characterized by higher consciousness and most importantly governs compassion, empathy and love. Because it is the fourth and centrally located chakra, it serves to balance the other chakras. It determines how we interact with other people and plays a central role in our relationships.
