Heavy brass umbrella stand made from 1960 British 4.5 inch Naval gun shell

This umbrella or walking stick stand is made from a large 1960 British 4.5 inch (114mm) naval gun shell. It still has the ignitor or primer with the vented tube inside. The Royal Navy uses this gun on its frigates and destroyers against surface, aircraft and shore targets. Main headstamp marks are as follows:

  • 45IN MKS 3-5 GUNS (4.5 inch shell made for Marks 3 to 5 naval guns)
  • /|\ broad arrow (property of the British government)
  • ECC (E Curran and Co, Cardiff, manufacturers)
  • 1960 (date of manufacture)
  • LOT 111 (lot number)

The item needs a good clean inside (maybe a coat of paint) and a polish outside.

Height is about 400mm.

Weight is about 5.8kg
