Herod Agrippa I (10 BC-AD 44), last king of Judea (AD 41-44), was the grandson of Herod the Great. Herod Agrippa was appointed companion to the emperor's grandson, Gaius Caesar (later Emperor Caligula).

When Caligula acceded to the throne in AD 37, he made Agrippa ruler of territories east of the Sea of Galilee. In 41 AD Emperor Claudius I made him King of Judea.
