High value item -Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg Sweden stoneware figurine horse circa 1953

Offered for sale is a highly collectible and hard to find ceramic figurine of a horse  designed/modelled by world famous Scandinavian artist Stig Lindberg for the company Gustavsberg Sweden. This design is referred to a  " Springhare" ie Jumper and is typical of the sophisticated,  quirky and whimsical designs Stig Lindberg produced for Gustavsberg during his long tenure with the company from the early 1920's until the late 1960's . This is a slip cast stoneware figurine with incised/carved details on the shoulder, flank and rump of the horse.  This design was produced in 2 sizes of which this is the smaller range. The figurine is glazed in a buff/off white coloured glaze. There is no signature on this figurine. The range of decoration applied to this design varies considerably with some items hand painted in tri-colour or monochrome glazes with or without incised detail, and  usually with bold abstract or geometric motifs such as polka dots. Stig Lindberg is widely regarded as one of the most influential and talented designers from the Mid 20th Century. His output was extensive including ceramic and glassware design, graphic design and industrial design, textile design etc. Examples of his designs are housed in museums of Applied Arts worldwide. Measurements of the Gustavsberg horse as follows : length from tip of nose to tail 19 cm ; height 17 cm ; width of the trunk 9cm
