The Stanley No 4½ has become incredibly popular following the praises that many high-profile woodworkers have given it.This is due to its extra size and weight versus the No.4 (it is 1 inch longer and also quite a bit wider). Christopher Schwarz who is both a well known craftsman and author has gone so far as to say the extra size and weight of the No.4½ is a game changer.

 

As such these planes have become highly sought after and not many have been available lately.

 

This plane was made in England. It is in very good condition and has undergone a basic clean-up with the wooden tote and knob having been sanded and shellaced.
