Hinged Silver Plate Cover

This vintage silver-plated hinged cover measuring approximately 18 x 26 centimeters boasts a classic design and a distinctive monogram, "J.O.", on the front. It's weight of 900 grams gives it some hefty presence too.

While its original purpose is uncertain, this cover's size and elegant design make it a strong candidate for a luxurious menu cover used in a boutique restaurant or hotel.  It could also have been a posh cover for a set of personal notepaper, or to house a special photo. Hooks at each end of the hinge enable string or elastic to hold the contents when inserted.
