Deals with the Edict of Nantes and its Revocation in 1685 ,  both key events in the history of the Huguenots and hence the history of the Afrikaans  and South African people of which the Huguenots of France play a seminal part. A rare first edition published in Delft, Holland, which was then a haven of safety for the Huguenots and from which a few hundred emigrated to South Africa.

First Edition. Complete in five volumes, all remarkably well-preserved. Very good indeed. Full leather throughout. Decorated gilt ( real gold leaf ) and raised bands on spine all still bright with a bit edgewear to spines. See photographs. Light scuffs and rubbing to the boards. Contents clean Engraved frontispiece to the first book. Bindings tight. A very important early history of the Edict of Nantes and trials of the Huguenots, in a pleasing set.
