During the late 17th century the British coinage was in disarray and the King order the Great Recoinage in 1696.Isaac Newton was appointed Warden of the Royal Mint and was asked for assitance.This Crown would have been the first generation of coins produced as a result of the Great Recoinage.

Crowns from this era also have a large collector base as they were also used as currency in the American Colonies.
The crown of offer is F in my opinion.Lots of details and all the lettering still clearly visible and will benefit from professional cleaning.
