"This book extensively covers, in both text and full-colour and historical photographs and illustrations, approximately 300 of South Africa's most important buildings: national monuments as well as undeclared buildings. In addition a great deal of supplementary information is given, in the form of boxes and special features that occur throughout the text, so that the reader may read not only about the buildings, but also about the people associated with them. A glossary of architectural terms and features, a bibliography and an index complete the book. This is, most decidedly, not merely a catalogue of buildings nor a text-book for the single-minded devotee of architecture, but a book that entertains and informs. Equally useful at home or on holiday, it can be consulted This book extensively covers, in both text and full colour and historical photographs and illustrations, approximately 300 of South Africa's most important buildings: national monuments as well as undeclared buildings.
