How awesome is this !!!
An antique pewter tankard made in 1860 by James Dixon & sons
Awarded in 1878 to J.F Wreford as 2nd prize for a hurdle race at Winchester College .
Participants had to be under 5 ft 4 inches , unbelievable ...believe it !
The bottom is glass and as the story goes these were inserted so that the drinker could remain aware of his surroundings and avoid attacks ....don`t know if that is true however there are more legends surrounding its invention .
Good all round condition and the hinge works 100%
