Hard cover with jacket, published by Longmans, Green and Co. in April 1947. Fold out maps, 756 pages, all crisp and clean. Red boards with gilt lettering to spine, corners slightly bumped. Binding intact. Signature and dated address written on front end page. Jacket has small tears at spine ends, rest in very good condition.
The narrative chapters in this famous book, originally ended with the death of Queen Victoria. To these have been added four new chapters, bringing the narrative down to the Peace of 1919. In the present edition a new Epilogue containing a brief survey of events since 1919 is included.
