The Zulu Revolt, now generally known as the Bamatha Rebellion, was as a revolt against British rule and increased taxation in the Natal Colony. This work originally commenced as an official record under the auspices of the Government of Natal, but the later creation of the Union of South Africa brought this work to a halt. It was subsequently completed by the author on his own. It is thus based upon as much official information as any official history might be.
