Info: An account of Hitler's military campaigns as told through the precarious careers and changing fortunes of his Army commanders.
This study of Hitler and his Generals assesses their military achievements and the strengths and weakenesses of the Nazi system of command. Humble looks at the hard core professionals such as von Runstedt, and discusses how far their adherence to traditonal military virtues brought them into conflict with the new heirachy. The contribution made by the Panzer Generals is also considered and that of the more unconventional commanders such as Rommel in North africa and Kesselring the Luftwaffe Marshal.


Richard Humble studied at Oriel College, Oxford, where he specialised in Military History.
Since 1966 he has worked in publishing. He is the Editor of "A History Of The Second World War" and the author of Hitler's High Sea Fleet and Japanese High Seas Fleet as well as over 40 other publication of Military History.
