This is an older loco. Why did I buy it? Because this is my favourite diesel, and no-one this side of Raymond Ackerman can afford the Brawa version. It is plastic, as technologically advanced as an E20 minibus, and plastic.
However, as the photos will show, there is so much space in this model for improvements, or even a small Preiser rugbymatch, that it is not even funny. It is analogue, and we popped the power off on the Central Station, plonked it down, stood well back, and gooied the green button. And off it went. Quietly, and without fuss.
Let it be clear, I was actually quite impressed with the detail on this thing. Not bad for a vintage loco. Not bad at all. Look at the detail on the bogeys for instance. The cab detail is crisp, and the dimensions right. In short, out of the box,and flying around the track, you wouldnt say it is an old loco. Hy hou sy lyf hups. And trust me, the bidding on it went frenetic. It is quite sought after other side of the water.
Anyway, photos, and I have added my Marklin BR218 just so you can see the size of this thing. In real life there were two V16 Maybachs howling in there. It could do 160km/h, and pull anything behind it. The model has two traction wheels, and we did not load it, so I have no idea how it would behave with axles behind it. Also keep in mind, this is a DC locomotive. Not suitable for Marklin 3 rail, unless converted.
Postage will be R100 insured post or R40 normal post or come fetch it in Benoni. If you don't I am going to modify this thing to smithereens. And no.... the BR218 is not included.
