You got to be very brave to advertise a cleaning fluid using close-up photography. You really need to trust an item. Let me tell you the story. Couple of years ago, as my fleet started growing, and the layout being in a garage without a ceiling, my brand new investment quickly got dirty. Dust, but even more so, rolling stock wheels had that dreaded black build-up on it, and things were just generally messy. Lots of ways to clean the grime of wheels, most of them including the use of something abrasive, like sandpaper sticks, or even worse, brushing them with a dremel and wirewheel.
Locobodies..... well, I sometimes diluted penetrating oil and used that, ending up with a very shiny piece, that will attract dust and look even worse ten days later. MrMin is a good one. But it tends to build up in corners where the dust collects, and nothing gets it out of there without spreading the dirt all over the loco again. Plus it also shines, and I do not want a shiny loco....
Only one product, out of all the hundreds I tested worked for me. Restored the locos to that factory dull finish. without leaving streaks and the like. It is as easy as having 2 soft brushes, and some of this cleaning fluid. One to apply and spread, the other to wipe the dirt of once the fluid have evaporated. Ten minutes.....
For this photo essay, I used a Marklin BR17, for two reasons, it has very intricate detail, where dust collects quickly, and secondly ummmmm, because this one stood on the layout for about a month. First the before pics, then all shiny with the fluid spread, and the last pictures after the brushdown. Take a look. Nice thing is, you will see no shine, you will see how it lifted dust behind detail, and just the touch of the second brush and the dirt s gone.
Lastly, I took a well used axle out a wagon, quickly rubbed it and you will see the residu just disappeared..
We spend a lot of dough on these things..... this is the only way to clean them. Klaar. 25ml bottle, will do about 40 locomotives or 110 wagons.
One thing though, if you cleaned a chassis and gears, this will remove ALL lubrication. You will have to re-oil.
4 available, so be quick. I will only be able to get new stock end of July.
Postage will be R40 in the RSA or come fetch some in Benoni
