Cor Dirks, whose full name was Justus Cornelias Dirks, was a prolific Afrikaans author of youth books, best known for his series "Die Uile" (The Owls), "Die Otters" (The Otters), and "Joof". He was born on February 28, 1911, in Volksrust and passed away on October 15, 2000, in Johannesburg.
