Detailed Ebbro quality model of the first ever Honda F1 car - a dainty small car introduced barely one year after Honda had started producing road cars....
Intriguing transverse V12 (1500cc) engine based on motorbike design.
Driven by American Ronnie Bucknum in three 1964 races. Only one RA 271 was ever built
The V12 engine was most probably the most powerful F1 engine of the time and was used in the following 1965 RA 272 which won the Mexican Grand Prix driven by Richie Ginther.
Although the RA 271 was novel monocoque construction mimicking Lotus, it was overweight which blunted its performance. Neither did it handle very well due to Honda's inexperience. However it was competitive at times and was a good learning exercise for Honda and the following RA 272 was a better proposition.
Being the first Japanese entrant in F1, this introduced the beautiful Japanese Ivory and Red livery to F1.
In excellent condition. It does not have the original cardboard box but will be wrapped carefully for transit. Although 1/20 scale, it displays satisfactorily alongside 1/18 models and is a worthwhile addition for all F1, historical or Honda fans.
Imported and from my private collection.
