Background to the Morgan Park Collection.
The Morgan Park Collection is a South African Scalextric collection that started in 2006 with a huge box of ‘90’s ‘classic’ track and 6 Scalextric cars in desperate need of some TLC. Today the collection stands at over 350 cars (all made by Scalextric) and a large permanent track lay-out called the Morgan Park Raceway. The cars range in year of manufacture from 1964 to 2005 and represent a large proportion of the Scalextric range manufactured between these years. Each car has been meticulously restored to its original splendour (with the exception of wing mirrors – these only get lost on the first lap anyway…), a process that often requires months. Some cars have been tastefully updated with better wheels and tyres, motors or guides, while others, mostly duplicates of those models already in the collection, have been resprayed and re-liveried to a high standard to create unique and beautiful slot cars with outstanding driving and racing characteristics.The owner of the collection is a very private person and therefore items for sale are listed with the assistance of Bob regular ‘Slotcars’.
