An old horsebrass showing a very long donkey with five men on it and one on either side, with the inscription Uncle Tom Cobleigh and All, and Widdecombe at the top.
The phrase "Uncle Tom Cobleigh and All" is used in British idiom to describe a large group of people too numerous to list. It originates from the Devon folk song "Widdecombe Fair", so it is not certain whether Tom Cobleigh was a real person or just fictional.
Quite unusual to find a horsebrass that shows humour like this one. It is a largish horsebrass measuring 9.7 x 7.9cm.
