This bold black pen with gold trimming belonged to former SA Minister of Finance, Owen Horwood. The pen and the case is not a set. There is no logo or brandname on the pen to identify it as a Caran d’Ache pen. See * below
The turning mechanism which propels the ball point to the front still works well/ The gold band in the middle shows a little bit of wear and tear.
The Caran d’Ache case is lined with maroon satin in the lid and the mould in which the pen rest is covered in red velvet. The case is decorated with a thin gold line and the logo is printed in gold at the top. The case is in good condition and a leaflet is included.
*(This pen rather looks like an identical copy of a pen that I sold last year (also part of the Horwood Collection) that was part of a set with a fountain pen with an iridium nib. The pens in this set were made in West Germany.
