In medicinal terms, the fruit was earlier utilized as an herbal plant to ease arthritis and rheumatism. The fruit is eaten raw or cooked for its fiery hot flavour, concentrated along the top of the pod.
The stem end of the pod has most of the glands that produce the capsaicin. The white flesh surrounding the seeds contains the highest concentration of capsaicin.Sow indoors before last frost or direct sow outdoors after last frost. Require soil level 5.6 to 6.0 (acidic), 6.1 to 6.5 (mildly acidic), 6.6 to 7.5 (neutral).
Average water needs, water regularly, do not over-water. This plant is suitable for growing in containers and/or indoor growing. Wear gloves to protect your hands when handling the fruits and seeds. Keep moist especially during the first week of transplanting.
