The purpose of a heated bed on 3D printers is to provide a semi-warm place for the initial layers to fuse together and maintain strength and toughness. Heat beds are used because they dramatically improve print quality by keeping the extruded plastic warm and thus preventing warping. Warping is a common condition caused by plastic on the edges of the part cooling down at an uneven rate when compared to the plastic inside of the part.
The place where you install the printer is recommended to be between 15C and 30C to avoid problems that affect print quality. In very hot environments, material flow or shrinkage can be affected, leaving threads or bubbles on the piece's surface.
