In Pretoria is daar egter onverpoosd gewerk om onafhanklikheid te bewerkstellig. In 1914 het ? eie tuiste, die Oostelike Sportgronde, gevolg, danksy die werk van veral Loftus Robert Versfeld, na wie die huidige stadion van die Blou Bulle Rugbyunie op presies dieselfde plek later vernoem is.
