Paperblock has been subject to recasing, quite a while ago, using black leather-look rexine over board with gilt titling to front board and titling to spine from original spine band laid over.

Spine tape is beginning to peel back from the boards.

Original black front end-paper has been retained as part of the recasing, which has a school presentation plate affixed, dated 18th June 1903.

Owner's stamp to new front end-paper and head of presentation plate, second ownership name to head of half-title page.

Paperblock is untrimmed.

Leaf ix has a 1cm closed tear to fore-edge.

Pages xi + 303 with frontispiece plate of author.

Waterstain to top gutter of most pages.
