HOWLITE BLUE

(dyed Howlite White - often mistaken for Turquoise)

Natural Turquiose is a darker shade with pale grey "patterns" and generally has a matt finish. If it is broken open, the colour is right through the stone. With Howlite Blue, if the stone is broken it is white inside - only the exterior is dyed. Howlite blue also has a white undertone if you look at the stone carefully and is usually shiny. Know the differences between the two so that you cannot be misled - many people simply don't know!
