The Tria like the Silkn has a clearance by the FDA but the declaration of the Tria by the FDA is very different from that of the Silkn.

Tria by FDA : “ The spectra (former name of the Tria) hair removal laser system is intended for adjunctive use with shaving for hair removal sustained with periodic treatments”.

Silkn by FDA : “The Silkn is intended for removal of unwanted hair”?

Professional system : “PhotoDerm HR is used for removal of unwanted hair”.

As you can see the Silkn got the same declaration from the FDA as the professional systems while the Tria got a declaration of a better shaver which means that the FDA recognized with the effectiveness of the Silkn the same as the professionals while the Tria did not.

The treatment spot of the Silkn is 6cmsquare and it shots every 3.5Sec which means that it covers an area of 1.7cmsquare per Sec.

The treatment spot of the Tria is 0.8cmSquare and it shots every 2 Sec which means that it covers an area of 0.4cmsquare per sec.

The Silkn covers a total area of 4 times then the Tria which means that to treat the same area with the Tria will take 4 times long then with the Silkn.

The tria is a battery based system which means that you have to charge the batteries from time to time. Every charge cycle is enough for 250 shots which with the Tria treatment spot is not enough to treat one leg. To recharge the batteries will take 3 hours so to treat 2 legs can take the whole day long.

Silkn is connected to the power line and within 20-30 minutes you can finish treating the legs.

The Tria uses the laser technology and uses more then 20J per cmsquare.
