an onboard sim card like traditional datacards but operate using
a USB port rather than a PCMCIA slot.

The Huawei E220 modem is supplied with two USB cables. The short USB cable
is the most practical and the longer cable comes with two USB plugs, so that
the E220 can be powered from two USB ports if the power provided by a single
port PC is not sufficient.
