Huge 31 cm Lost City Sun City Presentation/ Serving Plate with Stunning Design! Excellent condition!

Very large presentation plate . Would display very well on a wall or could be used for serving. 31 cm in diameter  3 cm high. Very heavy. Excellent condition. No chips or cracks.

When Sol Kerzner built the Lost City Hotel at Sun City, no expense was spared on decor and design. The artwork on the ceiling of the central atrium set the tone and took a group of South African painters months to complete. It is one of the largest and most underrated paintings in South Africa. The wild animals and trees  motif of the atrium was extended through to the crockery designed for the hotel. This plate is a prime example. It was originally presented to Percy Tucker, the founder of Computicket, in gratitude for his help in booking shows at Sun City.

The underlying plate was manufactured by Royale Rego of the Kingdom of Thailand and their stamp is at the back.

This design is very scarce on the collectible market. A solid piece of South African porcelain Africana.
