William Kwaku Adzraku is a Ghanaian born on the 16th February, 1966. He is largely a self-taught artist. He had his basic art education through the study of Painting and Decorating at the Ho Polytechnic in the Volta Region of Ghana. Being so bent on furthering his education in interior design, William took his talent lightly and was just painting for fun. However, in 1994, his family was confronted with a very difficult economic situation which forced him to nurture his inborn talent which translated from a hobby into a profession. William had his first exhibition in 1995 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra Ghana. The success of that exhibition endeared him so much to art lovers that, Canadian High Commission invited him for an exhibition the following year, which was another booster.Â
William Adzraku gained an additional identity as a "business artist" through his special commissioned projects for companies, using their products, services and processes as themes. He lives and works in Ghana and has since moved from height to height. His paintings adorn the offices and homes of many distinguished personalities including the president of Ghana, H.E. John Agyekum Kufour, and the Executive Secretary of ECOWAS Dr. Mohammed Eben Chambas.Â
William's paintings have an African identity and cut across realism, abstractions and impressionism which are best expressed in oil and acrylic. According to him, "each painting has a meaning that relates to everyday life and gives a beautiful insight into our existence on earth". William is one of the eclectic painters who have their own unique identity. He develops themes around religious and social issues, using a style uncommon to the art industry referred to as "Rock".Â
Currently, he is offering a bachelor programme in entrepreneurship at GIMPA - Greenhill College, Accra, Ghana.Â
