Set in East Africa Hunter's story, written with Alan Wykes assistance, gives a close up look at that area as it was in colonial days. Hunter's observations on wildlife at short range, elephants on destructive rampage, poachers, Italian and Indian nobility on safari are some of the experiences of one of the notable "great white hunters." His written account is backed up by excellent photographs, many of African wildlife and not all hunting trophies.
