Bigleaf Hydrangea | Double Hot-Pink Mophead Blooms
'Francy Hot Pink®™' is a vibrant, compact bigleaf (mophead) hydrangea bred for its showy double-petalled, hot-pink flower heads and sturdy, upright stems. Its abundant blooms, tidy habit and long flowering season make it a standout in borders, feature plantings and large containers. Excellent as a fresh or dried cut flower and prized for its bold colour display.
Sun: Partial shade (best: morning sun / afternoon shade). Protect from harsh midday sun.
Soil: Moist, fertile, well-drained; enrich sandy soils with compost or organic matter. Flower colour remains vivid pink in neutral to slightly alkaline soils.
Water: Moderate — keep evenly moist, especially during hot, dry spells and in containers.
Fertilizer: Balanced feed in spring; optional light top-up mid-summer to sustain bloom.
Pruning: Light only — remove spent heads and dead or weak stems after flowering. Avoid hard pruning (blooms form on old wood).
Top tip: Mulch to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature; avoid overhead watering during strong sun to prevent petal scorch.
