Hypericum revolutum Seeds
Curry Bush
Hypericum revolutum or Curry Bush as it is commonly known has a wide distribution range. It occurs from South West Arabia southwards through the afromontane zones of eastern Africa to the Cape and is also found on Madagascar, Comoro and Reunion Islands where it is found growing along streams in montane grassland and forest fringes. From June to November this small tree puts on a lovely display when in flower. Growing to about 2.4 meters in height, this dense, bushy shrub has drooping branches. The green pointed leaves smell like curry after rain or when crushed. The large, bright yellow flowers with their masses of golden stamens are loosely grouped at the branch tips. This small tree is easy to grow but does best in rich, well-drained soil in full sun.
