A5, Hard cover, 285 pages
Great condition with protective plastic!!
Born in Bristol and brought up to be a Methodist missionary, Douglas Hyde became interested in Communism while working in the depressed areas of Wales. He joined the British Communist Party in 1928 and became one of its most ardent and successful organizers and propagandists. After WWII, Hyde's faith in Communism was rudely shaken by directives from Moscow which bade the Daily Worker cease its policy of cooperation and begin to attack the Labor Government and British institutions. The true immorality of Communist tactis became clear to him. Always a man with a faith, Hyde turned tot he Catholic Church in this crisis. His change of heart and sudden leaving of the Party caused a great sensation in England; here he tells the whole moving story of why he did it.
